“[to the Hulk] You don’t deserve this power. Now watch her DIE!” – Abomination
Number of Times Seen – 2 (17 Sep 2008 and 8 Jan 2014)
Brief Synopsis – Bruce Banner continues to try to find a cure for his ailment that causes him to turn into the Hulk as he is pursued by the military who want to use him as a weapon.
My Take on it – Admittedly, The Hulk isn’t my favorite super-hero because all he does is destroy because he has little control over his actions. This movie tries to show the human side of him, Bruce Banner, (played by Edward Norton) attempting to keep his “calm” and find a cure for his gamma ray “ailment”.
This movie does quite a good job showing his “human” side and the emotional problems Bruce Banner tries to overcome in order to rid himself of the beast located within himself.
As we know from many other movies and books, the attempt at the military to take over certain technologies to use as a weapon is a know plot theme and it seems somewhat overused here.
I had forgotten that the serum used here was a later version of a similar serum used on Steve Rogers that ultimately made him Captain America. It’s interesting to think about the fact that the same “drug” can have different effects on different people.
The action here is par for the course and seems to be just a rampage between two extremely huge linebackers but there is lots of action here that works well within the framework of the Avengers Universe.
This, along with Thor (2011) is part of the weaker tier of movies in the series, but they are still done extremely well and are definitely entertaining.
Bottom Line – Action packed superhero movie that isn’t as captivating as the other Avenger movies. This along with Thor (2011) are among the weakest ones in the series, but still great story that fits into the Marvel Universe perfectly.
Rating – Globe Worthy

Even though this wasn’t the best film, it was much better than I expected it to be. I was surprised that Edward Norton was actually not a bad fit for the role. Although after seeing The Avengers, I prefer Mark Ruffalo. 🙂

Yeah, I agree with the Ruffalo point, as good as Norton was, he’s better.

I agree this is in the weaker tier of Marvel’s movies but still quite enjoyable to watch. I still think it’s possible to make a great Hulk movie, maybe some day it’ll happen. Nice review!

Thanks for stopping by and commenting Sidekick.
I agree that it’s possible, but there are many other superheros that I would love for them to make movies of instead of trying to rehash one already done 🙂
