Brief Synopsis – After Jane Foster is possessed by a magical entity known as the Aether, Thor must take her back to Asgard to find a cure.

My Take on it – I’ve never been the biggest fan of Thor as a superhero and I have always deemed his stand alone films in the MCU to be among the weakest ones made.

This film takes us far away from Earth for most of the film and gives us a better understanding of how the 9 worlds work.

They do a nice job of imporving on the previous film and this one is definitely more interesting.

The action scenes are done amazingly and the added bonus of superb special effects helps us grasp the otherworldly aspects of the story despite it still being set in the MCU that we all know and love.

They wisely decided to bring Loki back as the main antagonist and as good as he is, he comes across too much as being a bit annoying in everything that he says and does along the way.

Anthony Hopkins has even less to do in this film than in the previous one and that is a good thing because he has the ability to overpower his costars in some films due to his amazing stage presence.

Still not on par with the level of the rest of the MCU, but still moving in the right direction with it all.

Bottom Line – Continues the story of Thor and is an improvement on the original, but still remains among the weakest of the films in the MCU. The action and special effects are done really well here and we get a great impression of how the 9 worlds work.  Loki is once again a solid antagonist but still is a bit annoying at this stage.  Recommended!

MovieRob’s Favorite Trivia –  Because of the height difference between the two, a box, and later a ramp, had to be used in some of the close-up, and kissing scenes between Natalie Portman and Chris Hemsworth.  (From IMDB)

Rating – Globe Worthy (no change from original review)
