“We’re the fricking Guardians of the Galaxy! ” – Rocket Raccoon
Number of Times Seen – 1 (10 Nov 2014)
Brief Synopsis – A group of misfit space explorers go on a mission to deliver a lost artifact that could save an entire system from annihilation.
My Take on it – As a kid in the 80’s and early 90’s, I loved reading comics, but I was usually more partial to the one made by DC instead of Marvel.
I knew about the ‘famous’ Marvel heroes like Spiderman, Hulk, Captain America, Thor, and Iron Man but I didn’t know enough about X-Men and some of the other “big-name” titles.
When I heard they were making a Marvel universe movie about The Guardians of the Galaxy, I had no clue who they were and what the story would be like, so I went into this completely blind as to the characters and the storyline.
I actually think that this is the best way to see a movie like this, because not knowing how the characters interacted in the comics and how the GotG were formed helped me believe the way it was done here instead of being a stickler for what was established in the comics.
The characters are all great and I’m so glad I finally got a chance to meet them.
I love how this movie was done very differently from the previous Marvel movie and gave us a completely otherworldly presentation that reminded me of the Star Wars universe and other similar kind of sci-fi universes. This fact alone makes me question if perhaps this is the best movie from the new Marvel movies franchise.
This movie proved that even “lesser-known” heroes can be a huge part of the new and ever expanding universe and make their mark on the genre.
I can’t wait to see where things will be going from here, because the franchise seems to be getting better and better along the way.
I’m gonna have to see this one again really soon….
Bottom Line – A great edition to the marvel canon that proves that you don’t need to only make movies about the most famous superheros. Excellent effects with a very otherworldly story make this one of the best Marvel movies so far. Things don’t seem to be losing steam along the way. Highly recommended!
Rating – Oscar Worthy

Great review Rob.
I really liked this one although I still prefer the Avengers entire franchise over this. I did like how refreshing and original it was in the whole superhero genre.

Yes, yes, and yes. 🙂 Thrilled to see you enjoyed this one so much, Rob. It’s just a whole bunch of fun, and I can’t wait to see it again either…and I actually saw it three times, so that’s saying something! Lol. It’s like you said–it’s a superhero film, but it feels more like a sci-fi adventure. And the music and humor are just perfect. Great review!!
