Number of movies seen from this year – 105
Number of movies reviewed – 122 (including 25 Encore Reviews)
My #1 for this year is a true no-brainer for me because out of the thousands of films that I’ve seen in my lifetime, this is the one that I have seen the most time (probably over 50 times).
As a 9 and 10 year old when this was in the theater, I saw it at least 14 times on the big screen.
Of the 5 Best Picture nominees that year, 3 made my list and they scored very high positions (#2, #3 and #5)
I wasn’t the biggest fan of Tender Mercies and have yet to see The Dresser (maybe one day)
My #4 is the latest addition to my repertoire of this list although I had heard of it for years.
#6, #7 and #10 are all classic comedies that are always funny no matter how many times you watch them.
Rounding out my list are a popular gangster flick and a Disney version of a classic tale.
Update 4 Jun 2017 – From Star Wars to Jedi is added at #8 bumping every subsequent film down one notch

Some excellent choices. 1, 2, 6, and 9 are among my favorites, though I also really like Yentl, WarGames, and Octopussy. Oh, and Cross Creek. Haven’t even heard of 10 though; is it good?

Haven’t seen Yentl in a long time, but I had trouble with a lot of the way it portrayed Jews. Probably should rewatch it.
Wargames just missed the cut and as much as I loved Octopussy, it isn’t top ten material.
Gotta rewatch Cross Creek one of these days because I dont remember it at all

Again, there so many from this year (and on this list) that I have never seen that it’s hard for me to comment too extensively. But I agree that #1 is a very, very good flick.

I understand where ur coming from. Its usually all a numbers game based on when we were born. Which is why I probably will never be able to justify doing this prior to 1980 (I was born in 74) yes. #1 is awesome!
